App Center | HockeyApp will be transitioning into App Center on Nov. 1, 2019.

Getting Started with Preseason SDKs

Introduction

Prerequisites

This getting started guide assumes you are an already existing HockeyApp custome and have already onboarded your application to use HockeyApp. If you are looking to onboard with a brand new app we suggest starting with our production getting started experience.

The Preseason program gives users early access to new features. To apply for Preseason, go to the user Preseason page and join the program. When you get accepted in the program, you will get an email and then you can continue with the steps below.

The next steps assume you are already part of Preseason.

iOS, OS X and tvOS

The Preseason iOS SDK is drop in compatible with our latest production SDK. You can simply replace the existing HockeyApp SDK. No code changes are needed.

Binary

  • Download the corresponding SDK binary from the user Preseason page and unzip the folder.
  • Replace your HockeySDK.embeddedframework with the one from the zip file.
  • Make sure to do a clean build.

CocoaPods

  • Change your Podfile to point to our private podspec for the Preseason SDK.
  • for iOS: pod 'HockeySDK', :podspec => 'https://download.hockeyapp.net/preseason/sdk/ios/HockeySDK.podspec'
  • for OS X: pod 'HockeySDK-Mac', :podspec => 'https://download.hockeyapp.net/preseason/sdk/osx/HockeySDK-Mac.podspec'
  • for tvOS: pod 'HockeySDK-tvOS', :podspec => 'https://download.hockeyapp.net/preseason/sdk/tvos/HockeySDK-tvOS.podspec'
  • Run pod install for your project

Android

Binary

  • If you have already integrated HockeyApp using Android Studio, we recommend removing it first before replacing it with the new binary.
  • Follow the instructions on integrating the Android SDK binary but use the SDK from the preseason download link.

  • NOTE: If you haven't set your App-Identifier in your AndroidManifest.xml – either using the "manifest placeholder"-approach or having set it in the AndroidManifest.xml directly, use the overloaded register method that takes the app-id as a 3rd parameter.

Gradle

  • Open your project's build.gradle and add the following repository

    maven { url 'http://download.hockeyapp.net/preseason/sdk/android' }

  • Update your HockeyApp dependency. You might not want to specify the version if you always want to get the latest during Preseason.

    compile 'net.hockeyapp.android:HockeySDK:+'

  • NOTE: if you haven't set your App-Identifier in your AndroidManifest.xml – either using the "manifest placeholder"-approach or having set it in the AndroidManifest.xml directly, use the overloaded register method that takes the app-id as a 3rd parameter.

Universal Windows 10

You can simply update to the latest prerelease HockeySDK.UWP. Make sure to uninstall previous HockeySDKs from your app. User Metrics will begin flowing automatically.

  • Add HockeySDK.UWP nuget package: Install-Package HockeySDK.UWP -Pre

  • In the App class constructor add the following line: Microsoft.HockeyApp.HockeyClient.Current.Configure(“Your_App_ID”);

  • Enable Internet(Client) Capability in package manifest
