How to manage notifications
Notifications are used to inform testers and other users of newly uploaded builds.
You can resend an invitation to your testers from:
"HockeyApp - "YourApp" - Users - Click on "YourUser" - Resend Invitation
As a developer, once you have the first version of your build uploaded you can notify the testers of your app from:
HockeyApp - "YourApp" - Versions - "YourVersion" - Notify (The preferred method of communicating with your users is through release notes.)
You can send a message to your testers from inside HockeyApp from:
HockeyApp - "YourApp" - Users - Messages
You can export a list of your testers e-mail addresses from:
HockeyApp - "YourApp" - Users - Export - All Users (or Select Users)
How can I confirm users have the permissions required to receive different types of notifications from my apps?
Testers control their own notification settings about what types of notifications they want to receive either globally or on a per app basis from: https://rink.hockeyapp.net/manage/notifications (also accessible by opening HockeyApp and selecting your own name from the top bar, then clicking the "Notifications" tab).
Testers control their own notification settings, but developers can choose which users to notify when they send a notification:
- When you upload a build via the Version API you can set notify=2 (to send a notification to all testers), notify=1 (to send a notification to all testers that can install this app) or notify=0 (not to send a notification).
- When you upload a build via the UI you can click "Notify" (to send a notification) or not click "Notify" (not to send a notification). You can also select which users to notify when you click the "Notify" button.
E-mails to testers from your HockeyApp account show as coming from the name in your HockeyApp account settings. Your name is also populated from this location in automated e-mails if you are the owner of the API token that was used to upload a build.
